We’ll be discussing the H1N1 hoax, why I’d never get a flu shot, and whether is makes sense that the federal government is giving $2 billion dollars to the pharmaceutical companies to help rush out more flu vaccine this year.
With the “flu season” almost upon us, we’re beginning to see another big marketing push to “get our flu shots.” I have no doubt that in another six weeks or so, the fear mongering on this topic will be in full swing. Looking back over the past year or so, and researching the H1N1 virus and flu shots has been eye opening to say the least. Those of you that know me know that I never “say the least,” so there’s a lot more to come on this topic.
The Flu Shot Myth
H1N1 and flu shots are really two different topics, but for one main reason we’re going to look at both together. That is because this year, if you choose (or are forced) to get a flu shot, you are going to get a “combo” vaccine of both seasonal flu and H1N1. You don’t have much of a choice.
This is a topic that will require an in-depth look to fully understand the “uncommon truth” of the matter, so there will be a series of articles – this is just the introduction – stay tuned – and feel free to comment.
I generally follow my doctor’s advice when it comes to flu shots. The years I’ve taken them I haven’t had the flu. I’m concerned that if I don’t follow his advice and not take it I will succumb to the flu like seasickness when I didn’t take my seasick medicine before going out ocean fishing. I went out in the ocean with the thought, duh, I never get seasick. Well, the time I went out without taking Dramamine…guess what.?? ….I got seasick.. However, the “myth” about flu shots merits inquiry.
Thanks Scott, I sure understand that it’s hard to go against convention and paying attention to “Doctor’s orders” is important. I ain’t no Doctor – the only medicine I prescribe is single malt!!
